The McLaren M23 was one of the most successful and iconic grand prix race cars of the 1970s. It recorded three wins during its maiden grand prix season in 1973, and was further refined for the following year. The 1974 season saw three M23s on the racing grid, including Yardley Team McLarens splendid white-liveried machine, which featured the British cosmetic company Yardley’s "Y" logo on its nose fairing. With renowned motorcycle racing champion Mike Hailwood at the wheel, the car took a third place podium finish at the South African GP,
which contributed to McLaren securing their first constructors championship.
