It is installed in the supply line from the tank to the motor for the purpose of filling the fuel tank. During fuelling the line to the carburettor is interrupted and the tank is filled through the pendulum. When the filling connector is pulled off, the connection between the tank and the motor is re-established and the filler neck is closed pressure-tight.
